Forsaken
The wreck of the Janie Seddon ship lies off the coast of Motueka, South Island, New Zealand. The ship was a twin screw steamer built in Scotland in 1901 for the New Zealand government as a military vessel. On completion she sailed through the Mediterranean, through the Suez canal and across the Indian Ocean arriving in Wellington in 1902. She spent most of her life around Wellington Harbour, and served in both World Wars as an examination vessel and mine layer. After the war she worked as a fishing ship in Motueka until she became stranded and to this day lies slowly rusting away where she was stranded.
